Lunch
Saint Clair Area School District provides the lunches for Assumption BVM School. Lunch prices will increase to $3.50 per meal which includes milk. Free and reduced lunch prices will not change. All lunch money must be paid on a Monday of each week. Lunch envelopes will remain the same. Our counts must be accurate and our payments must be on time to fulfill our financial obligations to our new vendor. Please be patient as we embark on this new healthy lunch program.

General Information
- ABVM believes that our manner of dress is a reflection of our Catholic values and strives to provide a positive environment that is conducive to learning. Students should come to school dressed in uniform. Official school uniforms must be worn throughout the entire school year. Spring/Fall uniforms, winter uniforms, and gym uniforms are all part of the dress code at ABVM.
- Swap Shop is a great way to save on uniforms! Parents donate gently used, outgrown ABVM uniforms. Anyone needing uniforms are welcome to take what they need from the Swap Shop for no charge!
Girls K-8
- Navy, evergreen, or white long or short sleeve polo shirt with school logo
- Dress khaki pants and belt with soft soled black or brown dress shoes
- Dress khaki shorts or capris and belt with socks and sneakers (Spring/Fall only*)
- Plaid or khaki skirt or skort with navy, evergreen or white knee socks or tights with soft-soled black or brown dress shoes
- Navy, evergreen or white school sweater or vest is optional (logo not required)
Boys K-8
Gym Uniform
Spring Uniform and Other Guidelines
The spring/fall uniform rules are in effect from the first day of school until October 15th and from April 15th until the last day of school unless otherwise announced.
For Girls:
- A wristwatch, cross or medal, small non-dangling earrings, one in each ear, and a Student
- Council pin may be worn. No other jewelry or piercings are permitted.
- No make-up of any kind is allowed.
- Light colored nail polish is permitted. Bright/dark colored nail polish is not permitted and the student will be directed to remove such.
- Unusual or unnatural haircuts or colors will not be tolerated.
- Cargo pants, painter pants, flare bottoms, low-rise, or excessively baggy or tight pants are not
permitted. - Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
- No sweatshirts or jackets, other than uniform sweaters and sweatshirts, are permitted to be
worn in the school throughout the day. Please be sure your student has the proper uniform
sweater, or sweatshirt for gym days. - Students participating in the Liturgy, such as lector or gift bearer, should be in dress uniform
- If a student has gym that day, he or she may bring the gym uniform to change into after
Mass. - Students are not permitted to wear boots throughout the day in school. In the case of
inclement weather, students should bring uniform shoes/ sneakers into which to change. - The Administration and Faculty determine what constitutes proper dress code.
For Boys

- Boys' hair must not be any longer than the top of the shirt collar or the top of the eyebrows. Hair must be neatly groomed and not be erratic in fashion or color.
- Completely shaved heads are unacceptable.

- Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

Student Health
A school nurse is provided to ABVM through the Pottsville Area School District. Though not in the building full time, she is here approximately one time per week. Her responsibilities include:
- Vision Screening
- Hearing Screening
- Physical Form
- Private Dental Form
- Maintaining all paperwork regarding action plans, etc…..
- Establishing and maintaining all state-mandated records, including a complete immunization record on all students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Safety
- Safety and security is the utmost importance at Assumption BVM School and is taken extremely serious. To ensure the safety and security of all students, ABVM has in place:
- 16 security cameras throughout the building and grounds which are monitored on 4 different screens within the building throughout the entire school day. Viewing is also available to staff members after hours through a secure remote access program.
- Door Buzzer System
- All entrance doors are locked at all times at Assumption BVM School. There is one main entrance on Howard Avenue which visitors must ring a buzzer to request access to the building. Office staff will then permit entrance to the building if known and expected individuals.
- Bi-Yearly Trainings with PPD
- Walk Through with PPD
- Offer suggestions. Answer our questions.
- Monthly Fire Drills
- We make sure all students know exactly what to do and where to go in the event of a fire. Fire Drills are practiced monthly at various times of the day both announced and unannounced.

Volunteering
Clearance Information
If at any point during the school year(s), you would like to volunteer at Assumption, please consider obtaining your clearances. Clearances take about 2 to 3 weeks to obtain so getting an early start is important. Clearances would be required for: helping at the Halloween Party, Christmas Party, Field Trip Chaperones, Library helpers, Lunch helpers, Classroom help, etc.
FBI Fingerprints done for free as well as your Child Abuse History Report done for free. *Fingerprint results take approximately 2-3 weeks.
***Please note that most clearances expire after 5 years and will then need to be redone.***
